Data evaluation reports
Ongoing research and evaluation are essential in Reading Recovery’s success. Since Reading Recovery was introduced in the United Kingdom and Europe in 1990, data have been collected and analysed for each of the 222,533 children served.
The Reading Recovery Evaluation Database (RRED) is an ongoing research project in the International Literacy Centre at UCL Institute of Education. Reading Recovery teachers enter data through RRED’s secure website. Every pupil taught is entered, no matter what the programme outcome or how long they receive Reading Recovery. No pupil is omitted. Evaluation reports for each school and each region are created.
RRED makes Reading Recovery accountable to schools and funding sources, and informs teaching and management decisions. A national report for Reading Recovery results is made publicly available each year and is posted on the Reading Recovery Europe website.
